EDI - when you want it

I was amazed this week to hear a trading partner say their EDI provider has a lead time of 12 weeks for starting work to set up an EDI connection for them.

Just think about that for a moment. 12 weeks is nearly 3 months. Nearly a quarter of a year. Would you be happy to tell your customers that you won’t start to fulfil their order for 3 months?

No of course not! They wouldn’t accept that, and neither should you.

EDI is like any other service: many providers give good service, yet what you hear about others seems frankly appalling.

Nowadays you can change your EDI provider to get the service you want, without incurring large costs.

A good provider will not only give you a better service at a reasonable cost, but will also work with you to ensure the switch over is pain free. 

If you are not getting a good service from your current provider, why put up with it?  You have nothing to lose by exploring whether it is worth switching provider.
