Is Your Business Ready for Slovakia’s Mandatory B2B e-Invoicing?

Slovakia is taking another significant step towards the digitalisation of business processes, with a clear timeline now in place for mandatory B2B e-Invoicing.

For VAT-registered businesses, this provides greater clarity on what lies ahead and an opportunity to start preparing well in advance.

Key Dates for Slovakia’s e-Invoicing Mandate

There are two important dates that businesses should have on their radar:

January 2027 – Domestic B2B e-Invoicing

From January 2027, structured electronic invoices will become mandatory for domestic B2B transactions.

The requirement will cover the issuance, receipt and storage of electronic invoices, meaning businesses will need systems and processes capable of managing the full e-Invoicing lifecycle.

July 2030 – Intra-Community B2B Transactions

From July 2030, the framework is expected to expand to intra-Community B2B transactions.

This wider rollout aligns with the European Union's VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) initiative and reflects the broader move towards digital reporting and standardised electronic invoicing across Europe.

Why Businesses Should Start Preparing Now

Although January 2027 may still seem some way off, implementing e-Invoicing successfully takes time.

Businesses will need to consider whether their existing ERP systems, invoicing processes and compliance strategies are ready to support the new requirements. Depending on the complexity of the organisation, changes to technology, workflows and internal processes may be required.

Starting early gives businesses time to identify potential gaps, evaluate solutions and implement changes without the pressure of a looming deadline.

Get Ready for Slovakia's e-Invoicing Future

Mandatory e-Invoicing is part of a wider shift towards more digital, automated and connected tax and invoicing processes.

By preparing now, businesses can ensure they are ready to meet Slovakia's 2027 requirements while also putting the right foundations in place for future EU-wide developments.
